Volunteer Opportunities

Distribution Days:

Adult Volunteers work on Tuesday mornings from 7:45 AM until 9:30 AM or Tuesday evening from 6:15 PM until 8:45 PM. These volunteers work in distributing the food to the clients under the direction of the Distribution Coordinator and a Team Member. These volunteers also restock the shelves and clean up.

Wal-Mart and Hy-Vee Donations:

Adult volunteers transport donations from Wal-Mart or Hy-Vee once a month or so to the Food Shelf. This Involves about 2 hours on a Monday, Wednesday, or Friday afternoon to pick up donations from Wal-Mart and about 1 hour in the morning on a Monday, Wednesday, and Friday at Hy-Vee. Amount of food that is donated varies.

Restocking:

Volunteers would be willing to be on a list to be called to help unload food from the Central Iowa Food Bank in Des Moines, sort and restock food, or help with other needs that arise. Teenagers and families are welcome to help in this capacity.
