Pella Community Food Shelf in partnership with Faith Christian Reformed Church provides the Backpack Program. The Backpack Program provides kid friendly food to children over the weekend and times when school is not in session. This program is available at Madison, Lincoln, Jefferson and Pella Christian Grade School. Families must meet the same requirements as the free and reduced lunch program. Through the help of local churches we collect school supplies for each grade for Pella community, Pella Christian and Home Schooled students. Our goal is to have all items needed for each grade to be put in a backpack for the first day of school. We hand out all supplies in late July or early August. See calendar of events.
Winter Coat Distribution
Throughout the summer we collect coats, snow pants and boots for all ages to provide warm winter clothing for clients in the month of October.
Turkey Box Distribution:
Through the help of local churches we are able to collect enough food to make a "a traditional Thanksgiving dinner" to give to those who utilize the food shelf. We distribute the turkey box the Tuesday before Thanksgiving.
Food Share/Southern Marion County Project
Food Share in partnership with Second Reformed Church is a program that delivers bags of food to Attica, Bussey, Harvey and Hamilton. This mobile pantry travels on the third Wednesday of every month. This program is available to all who need it within Marion County.
